From the twisted mind of Boogie Man Montoya comes the Bastard Groove Orchestra. A musical creature well versed in antiquity, but determined to dig it's own path through the sonic underbelly of today.
Originally created as a quick and easy side project, the blunt, simple nature of the music developed a life of its own. The Boogie Man abandoned the rock and metal operas he was so well known for, and took in copious amounts of delta blues, funk, and dark, brooding jazz. The end result is a sonic collision of all the worst aspects of some of the greatest music. Thick drum beats mix with dry, underplayed guitars, simplistic keyboards and bass that is too loud and too busy. The recipe is topped by the Boogie Man's singular voice, which packs bold, long-winded sentences into simple melodies.
This is music done wrong. Simple production values, bare-bones mixes, and misused hardware. There is no reason at all that this type of music should work.
And yet, it does.
