• Matt Cohen is an upcoming musician/composer/songwriter from Long Island. He started playing guitar when he was 9 years old. He took lessons for a brief period of time, then stopped and began to teach himself how to play. At age 11, he wrote his first guitar part, which was used 2 years later in his sisters song "Ceiling Dream". He has also worked on a number of other songs with his sister, Jessica Cohen, writing simple, catchy chord progressions. Matt is also an accomplished saxophone player. He picked the instrument up in elementary school and immediately fell in love with it. He has performed with numerous artists as well as performed with a few of his own bands, playing such genres as jazz, ska, rock, and pop. He currently resides at Hofstra University where he studies music as well as performs in numerous jazz groups. As a composer, Matt has composed everything from jazz, to classical, to pop, to blues, to rock and roll. He has taught himself how to play piano and continues to grow as pianist. His newly found piano skills aid him in his compositional works. Although he is at college, Matt continues to compose and write songs in his dorm rooms and in the practice rooms at Hofstra.
